  3. Dinner with the Premier

    Representatives from Master Builders Board attended a function with the Premier and his Cabinet Ministers this week. The key message was the McGowan government is keen to listen to industry stakeholders about their problems and recommended solutions.

  4. What’s your annual turnover?

  5. Census data released

    The first data from the 2016 Census was release on 27 June. People are now living longer, with 1 in 6 people over the age of 65 compared to 1 in 7 in 2011. The median age is now 38. 31% of Australian homes are owned outright and 34% owned with a mortgage – leaving 31% being rented. Separate homes still account for most homes (72%) but there has been a large increase in other forms of dwellings such as flats, apartments, semi-detached, row housing and town houses. Almost 1 in 4 Australians (24%) now live in singe person households.

  6. Construction Employment

    Total construction employment in WA peaked at 149,000 in 2015-16 but has fallen to 133,000 in 2016-17. About 85% of all construction jobs are full-time. The average earnings of construction workers in WA in the 3 years to 2015-16 was $112,000 per annum, 90% higher than the Australian average at $59,000 – reflecting the significance of resource projects.

  8. Productivity Commission Submission

    Master Builders has supported CCI with its submission to the Productivity Commission to achieve a fairer share of GST for WA. Click here.

  9. Fastest growing area in Australia

    95% of our population completed the Census. Serpentine-Jarrahdale was rated as the fastest growing area in Australia with a 9,000 increase in residents to over 27,000 since 2011. Perth CBD has about 22,000 residents.
