  1. Negative Gearing

There has been and will continue to be a lot of media commentary on the pros and cons of negative gearing in the lead-up to the next federal election. Master Builders is currently researching the economic impact of the various positions of the political parties.

  2. Fine Issued for Misrepresentation

An individual has been prosecuted by the Building Commissioner and fined $5,000 for offences his company committed while carrying out the fit-out of two commercial buildings in Belmont and Jandakot in 2013. Perth Magistrates Court found that the company implied it was a registered building contractor when it was not and carried out a prescribed building service without the required registration. The court heard the company had used another builder’s registration number to obtain building permits for the projects. This case serves as a reminder to registered parties to be fully aware of their obligations.
