CFMEU Causing Confusion on Your Site?
Master Builders has been advised the CFMEU has been targeting poor emergency exit lighting on some construction sites as a reason to stop the job. Master Builders reminds builders that union officials have no authority under the OSH Act to stop work for this reason. The test under the OSH Act is a serious and imminent risk to worker/employee safety. This activity is at odds with the union’s recent indications that it would work in a more co-operative fashion with builders to secure better safety outcomes. Reverting back to last century thinking and tactics is not co-operation nor is it doing the union any favours.
