  1. CFMMEU(V) Ordered to Pay

The CFMMEU(V) last week was ordered by the Federal Court to pay 40% of the legal costs of the ACCC following the successful ACCC prosecution against the union for unlawful secondary boycott action against Boral. An indication of the costs involved is a union offer of $3million to settle the case which was rejected. Estimates put the total union costs including penalties and agreed settlements to pay Boral at more than $15 million. The ACTU remains mute on this massive loss of union member funds by irresponsible, negligent and unlawful behaviour by senior union officials but bangs on about wages theft and jailing employers.
