The CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) is a perfect course for workers in the building and construction industry who want to progress their careers to become registered builders, project managers, Site foreman’s and more. This course is the gate way to your opportunity to work on commercial to low-rise construction projects.
This course will enable you to gain these skills:
- Building codes and standards
- Structural principles
- Supervise construction-planning processes
- Legal obligations
- Estimating, preparing and administering building and construction contracts
- Monitor costing systems
- Develop policies and procedures
- Overseeing the work and its quality and managing construction work in building projects
- This includes residential and commercial with the following limitations:
- Residential construction limited to NCC Class 1 and 10 buildings to a maximum of 3 storeys
- Commercial construction limited to NCC Class 2 to 9 buildings, Type C and B construction
Entry Requirements
While there is no pre-requisite for this qualification, the following entry requirements will apply:
Master Builders Association of WA
- Hold a minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience in the building and construction industry.
- Are currently under employment within the building and construction industry as there is a need for supervisor observations and signing off assessment tasks.
- Have a sound level of English language, literacy and numeracy (LLN).
Government PIT Funding
- Must have left school.
- Must have permanent place of residence in Western Australia.
- Must be an Australian Citizen.
- A permanent visa holder or holder of visa subclass 309, 444, 785, 790, 820 or 826;
- A dependent or spouse of the primary holder of a visa subclass 457; or
- A Bridging Visa E holder (subclasses 050 and 051) and you have made a valid application for a visa of subclass 785 or 790.
- Student must not have an active Apprenticeship or Traineeship registered under WAAMS.
- Must identify as an existing worker*
*An individual working 20 hours or more under a single employer. This includes self-employed.
Course Delivery Options
Course Duration: 16 months
Timetable: 4 days per month, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Time: 8am – 4.30pm
All course material will be provided by Master Builders Association of WA; however, a laptop/tablet will be necessary to complete the course requirements.
Student Support
Students are supported not only by the trainers/assessors throughout the qualification journey, but also by a dedicated Training Administration Officer.
Course Fees
CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) offered by Master Builders is funded under Jobs and Skills WA Priority Industry Training Programs.
Non-concessions: $1,200**

Assessment
Each unit of competency will require an assessment submission. Assessment tasks will vary for each unit of competency and completion of private study and allocated tasks outside of the block training will be required.
Certification
Upon successful completion of all the course and assessment requirements, Master Builders Association of WA (RTO 5101) will issue a Certificate for the Nationally Recognised Qualification. and Records of Results.
